is anybody even out there?

-I wonder if anyone really reads this blog of mine (guitarvirus.blogspot.com) . I know there are people who read, because page impressions are registered.

My goal at first was to have a supplemental blog. So I could go to a non ad-based (besides my own) blog. Yet still randomly post on xanga.com/guitarvirus so family/friends could stay updated.

- But I got lazy. And stopped posting here.

- I think I am going to post more here (believe it when you see it).

- This is mostly because I am starting to think more. More about life. I guess I always think, but lately I've been going through a period of clarity. I don't know what this means, if it has meaning, or if it should. But for me it confirms that there is a God, and he is continually interacting with my soul/heart/life/being/existence.

depression

I usually don't support many organizations besides the local church. But I found an organization that I wouldn't mind supporting. Its not that I think outside organizations are bad. It's just that I've never been too impassioned by them. Which explains why I am currently in ministry in a church.

The organization that I find to be of note is "To Write Love on Her Arms" I know this is fairly trendy. A lot of popular bands christian and secular wear t-shirts and have publicly supported this group. But I don't care. I think it'd be a shame to ignore this cause just to "stay away from trendiness."

-Its to raise awareness about suicide, addiction, cutting, etc. To be honest these are scary issues. Issues that make most people uncomfortable. They are uncomfortable to not only talk about. But uncomfortable to help people who deal with these issues.

-I guess I have many qualms against evangelical Christianity. One of them is shoving threatening issues under the rug, or glossing over them. Whether its divorce, pornography addiction, alcohol, depression etc.

-We are either too weak to call someone out on something, or we ourselves aren't living upright lives beyond reproach so without being a hypocrite we can't call attention to an issue.

Forgotten Generation:

-I hope we don't have a forgotten generation. A generation that because of pluralism and post-modernism we don't actively preach the gospel.

-A generation where we say "its ok to hurt, to cut, to drink... because everyone is different."

- According to the Facts on the website from NIMH 2/3 of all teens suffering from Depression don't seek treatment.

- We have celebrate recovery and the like for adults. What do we have for teens and college students who are more likely suffer depression for a length longer than a year. (5.3% of adult population vs 8.3 of youth)

Any thoughts?
